My skills address the critical issues businesses face in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

Unique experiences across consulting, journalism, nonprofits, and tech have given me perspective on the factors that make winners and losers in an economy where “data has become the new oil.”

Don’t let Big Data play you while you get nothing in return; leverage your data with innovations on the cutting edge of technology. I provide services across all areas of business and technology, with a specialization in data as a resource for business intelligence.

I’m not going to sell you a new tool with a silly name, but I can help you get more out of any digital tool you’re currently using. Take a look at what I’m capable of bringing to your business.

This open-source showcase displays a blend of key data engineering and analytical skills through the creation of a SQL database and visualization pipeline.

Drawing from CIA World Factbook data, exportable flat files are transformed into a relational database, with an automated data quality assessment and usability checks. Using ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) principles, validated data is fed into a live, web-based visualization.

This solo project is intended to emphasize how deep I’m able to get with data that might be difficult to use, poorly stored, or incorrectly encoded, as is common in social sector databases. Optimizing data of poor quality can be an investment with major returns.

Front Row Seats to the Digital Revolution

In 2020, I maintained a database for NBC News’ COVID 19 Tracker, compiling state government data from all 50 states.

NBC News tallied records from state government officials, instead of relying on CDC or University Lab data. For Texas, New York, California, and Pennsylvania, data was verified county by county.

Data was refreshed multiple times per day across 300+ unique sources and used across broadcast, digital, opinion, and social media teams. As late as 2020, this was done by hand, typically for several hours by a team of 3-5 reporters. I trained myself to automate that sort of work after leaving the media.

The TCS New York City Marathon

My career in data really hit its stride with New York Road Runners, the nonprofit organization behind the largest footrace in the world, the TCS New York City Marathon.

As a Development Administration Associate, I worked on their fundraising team developing features for their Salesforce instance, enabling my team to take on bold new fundraising campaigns and scale a 50% annual revenue through targeted communications & data insights. This was accomplished by reducing technical friction between marketing, accounting, and IT teams.

This role also allowed me to see the complexities of managing very large data sets at a multifaceted organization. With an operating budget above $100M more than 2.5 million customers, and roughly a dozen business units, my work enabled new customer experiences and ways to connect runners with our charitable mission.

Excellence From the Start

The summer I started college, I successfully wrote a $2 Million Grant proposal for the “Bloomberg Climate Challenge Grant” in the Mayor’s Office of Ron Nirenberg for The City of San Antonio.

BETTER DATA | BETTER WORLD |

My career in data started when I realized it was the most effective tool we have for understanding and solving complex problems.

I don’t believe people fit in a box, and the systems we design should support, rather than contain, the people that use them.
